Tires: Measure tread depth if possible, and check for uneven wear, sidewall bubbles, and mismatched brands or sizes. Many lease returns require a matched set in safe condition.
Body panels: Walk around the vehicle in good daylight. Note dents, creases, and misaligned gaps between panels or bumpers.
Scratches and chips: Use the \"credit card rule\" from many lease guides: anything longer or deeper than that often triggers charges.
Glass and lights: Look for windshield chips or cracks, damaged mirrors, and broken or hazed light lenses.
